Bourbon

Bourbon started his show career with a bang by winning Best In Match at 12 weeks old and by 17 months of age this youngster was a new AKC Champion! As a Special, Bourbon was awarded multiple Specialty Best In Shows and Sporting Group wins under both breeder judges and all-breed judges alike. As the recipient of seven Specialty Bests in just 14 months, Bourbon was the leading Specialty winner for 2002 - 2003. He entered the Golden Retriever Club of America Show Dog Hall of Fame in May of 2002 and was nationally ranked in the Top Twenty for the years 2002 and 2003 acquiring well over 80 Show Dog Hall of Fame points. He also received a Judges Award of Merit at the 2002 Golden Retriever Club of America National Specialty under esteemed breeder judge Marcia Schlehr.

Bourbon sports an impressive pedigree that finds among his ancestors some of the top producers in the country. I am extremely pleased with what Bourbon has been producing and most proud that in limited breedings he has achieved Outstanding Sire status with the Golden Retriever Club of America! He has produced American, Canadian and International Champions and many of his get have been awarded impressive Specialty wins. Most importantly, he is producing his outstanding temperament. I hear repeatedly from people who have his pups how wonderful their temperaments are and what a joy they are to own. I feel exactly the same way about Bourbon. He exemplifies breed temperament with his sunny, willing disposition and fun loving happy manner. He adores children and mixes and plays well with other dogs. He also possesses a penchant for swimming and retrieving and exhibits good marking ability and perseverance.

Bourbon is a balanced athletic dog. He possesses a classic headpiece, dark eye, black pigment, full dentition and a scissors bite. His good shoulder layback, beautiful neck blend, rock solid topline, short loin, and strong rear are some of his best attributes. He is a short coupled moderate boned dog who stands 23 1/2 inches at the withers and weighs approximately 80 pounds. His movement is clean and precise and he covers ground effortlessly. He seems to be consistently throwing strong toplines, depth of body, correct tail set and carriage and his pleasing headpiece and expression.

Bourbon is currently retired from the show ring and standing at stud. He is enjoying life with the rest of the Apollo gang and is looking forward to competing again as a veteran in the near future.
